dreams... personal vision

I am on an almost burned-out phase of my career now,
hence I am doing my best to fight this off
so I can continue with my mission
in serving the students of my country.
They, among others,
need a lot of help from academic people just like me.

Most people keep complaining
about how poor Philippines is,
how corrupt government officials are
or how bad the environment (physical) is nowadays.

But do I join them in complaining?
Yes, I do, at times.

I intend to stop however.

Years from now,
I am seeing myself as the teacher I was 17 years ago-
cheerful, enthusiastic, open-minded
and always open to challenges.
My son would be in college by then,
and probably would want to have less to do with me.
By then, I can use my extra time in doing research
and giving short learning sessions to those who needed them.

Personally,
I see my flower/vegetable garden to be looking better
and more productive (in terms of harvest),
and myself as 10 to 15 kilos lighter.
I'd be busy sharing ideas with people of varied specialization
when I am not in my yoga class.

Most of all, I'd be able to resurrect my community paper
(Alitaptap) to help the stay-at-home moms
and nannies deal with their usual concerns.
Oh dreams... but hey, dreams do come true :)

laundry poetry

Damned if you do, damned if you don't
Tis different from knowing that you won't
We all are actors playing out our part
It matters to take the role to the heart
Morning has broken, oh where were you night?
These years of madness will soon be out of sight
Toil with pleasure or beg for some crumbs
Be fit to survive... or just play dumb.

papa bear/ doc alvin/ sir ang... the best boss :)

He was my boss for three years.
I worked as his Research Assistant.
He always include everyone in his plans,
ask for suggestions and
lay-out what he wanted to accomplish.
Then he assigns people and ask them
if they are confident that they can do the task.
He talks in a friendly manner
and he kept reminding everyone
that he expects only the "best effort" .
It was a non-threatening "best effort" I hear.
It even makes everyone excited to do the task.
Each and every day, we update him
and he gives automatic feedback,
even during lunchtime or while walking.
All was a breeze.
And most of all, we pray together.
I am not very religious person
but each time we pray,
I can feel his sincerity
that it also brings me peace.
He was not perfect
but everybody liked him.
He's the best boss... ever :)

loving this song, in catholic mass celebrations

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my words to them.
Whom shall I send?

(Refrain)

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide,
'Til their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?

(Refrain)

april fools

Given Facebook
and all other social networking sites,
with short messaging coming in
at almost no expense
and sending mails within seconds,
I could only hope
that relationships have become stronger...
love and friendship bonds getting tighter.
But then again,
it seems to me that some found it harder
to communicate and express themselves better.
Why?
Perhaps we need to rethink and re-align.
Photos and thought posts...
what must they convey???
